Mr. Nurul Islam Chowdhury is co-founder, Board Member, and Managing Director of FARAJA Microfinance Ltd. He obtained his post-graduate degree in Management from National University of Bangladesh in the year 1997. He joined in ASA 1994 and since then has been closely associated with the implementation of ASA’s microfinance programs and impact assessment team until 2023. He worked in 7 countries in Asia and Africa (Bangladesh, Philippines, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ghana and Uganda) at high level management positions with ASA International including the CEO of ASA Microfinance Afghanistan in the year 2009 to 2010 and CEO of ASA Microfinance Uganda in the years from 2014 to 2023. Mr. Mafique has served on various Organizational Boards namely was a Board of Director for ASA Afghanistan in 2009-2010 for 2 years, ASA Microfinance Kenya Ltd and ASA Microfinance Tanzania Ltd in 2015-2023 for 9 years, ASA Microfinance Rwanda Ltd in 2016-2023 for 8 years and AMFIU (Association of Microfinance Institution of Uganda) in 2019-2023 for 4 years. From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Mafique provided consultancy services to CCT (Center for Community Transformation) in the Philippines and CHC (Cambodia Health Committee) in Cambodia, to strengthen the Microfinance-Service Delivery System, Human Resources Management System, Monitoring, Supervision, implementation, financial control system, accounting and record keeping system of world-renowned ASA cost effective & sustainable methodology.
